Drama
The purpose of the Actor's Stages at NSA is to provide comprehensive, professional
training in acting for students pre-k through teens. Individual and ensemble
artistry is developed in class and displayed on stage in culminating semester projects.

| Folktales, Fables, Fairytales and Children's Classics are explored and reinterpreted by students through text, music, movement and crafts. |

| In Primary Stages, the actor's foundation: imagination, focus/concentration, actor's pantomime, voice, emotions, and improvisations are explored. Culminating work for this semester will be in the form of Readers Theatre. During the spring semester we build upon the base established in the previous semester. Topics of study include: monologues, scene studies, and character analysis. A final play production based upon original or published work will be the finale of the semester. |

| Secondary Stages mirrors the format of Primary Stages, with the exception of more mature, age-appropriate learning materials. First semester's focus is upon the actor's foundation, culminating in a Readers Theatre program. The second semester's delves deeper into the actors craft through analysis of guided topics. A play production ends the work of this semester. |

| Students will engage in breathing exercises, articulation activities and learning theater terminology. Students will work on the integration of face, body, voice, mind and emotions while improving self-confidence and self-discipline by working with others as a team. Students will perform basic poems, monologues and scenes that will demonstrate their dramatic prowess. |

Saturdays, 10AM, 1 hour |

|
| This course encompasses the training of talent, the building of acting skills, learning the lingo, audition processes and script analysis. Students will also write a short original monologue and keep an organized theater notebook. Students will prepare and perform roles portraying thought, feeling and character. |

| Learn the techniques and tips for telling a story to the children in your life. Classes will focus on fairy, folk and personal tales. |
