Dance
The dance program at NSA is designed to
introduce the techniques and art of
dance to train students at all levels and
experiences. Many of our students have
received scholarships for college and enter
the professional world of dance.

| This is a fun and energetic introduction to ballet, creative movement and combination tap incorporating basic terminology with the positions of the feet, hands and body. |

| Understanding the relationship between music, rhythm and controlled movement with proper ballet technique. New and more complex material will be taught at an accelerated pace. Student will begin to learn basic ballet history and develop a knowledge and great appreciation of the great ballets, classical music and famous dancers. |

| Children's Tap and Tap classes introduce students to the basic rhythmic movements of tap using age appropriate movements and music. This is the preparatory class which will teach students the basic vocabulary used in tap. |

| An exciting and ever evolving dance form full of rhythm, syncopation, passion and life. Classes explore body isolations of the head, shoulders, ribcage, feet and arms and encourage individual expression and the development of personal style. Jazz can be powerful and percussive or expressive and lyrical. Ever evolving, jazz dance is taught with the music of today together with the classical jazz of yesterday. Classes teach basic jazz dance technique, terminology and movement quality with an emphasis on proper execution of jazz isolations, rhythms and style performed to contemporary music. |

This form of dance is inspired by nature, music, art, and human emotions. It emphasizes the use of the floor work. Teachers incorporate an eclectic blend of contemporary and post-modern movement into their classes. |

| A workshop combining skills from theater and dance level classes correlating steps to musical theater numbers. Simple and complex combinations with correct technique, extensive terminology and knowledge of the art of dramatic movement for stage will be experienced. |

| A more advanced workshop combining skills of Modern and Jazz from previous level classes and correlating steps to lengthy and complex combinations with correct technique, extensive terminology and knowledge of the art of ballet itself. |
