Staff Bios

Executive Director

Dara Falco has been a leader in the Arts and Academic community for over 20 years. In addition to her new role as Executive Director for the Newark School of the Arts, Ms. Falco is an active board member for ArtsRock, a not-for-profit professional producing company in Rockland County, NY. As the former Managing Director of Riverspace Arts in Nyack, she was responsible for two venues with over 200 events annually. Over the course of her career she has worked with artists such as Edward Albee, Alec Baldwin, Lewis Black, Tom Chapin, Cherish the Ladies, Joe DiPietro, Olympia Dukakis, Lauren Flanagan, Ani Di Franco, Sonny Fortune, Israel Horovitz, Bill Irwin, Eileen Ivers, John Malkovich, Nelly Mckay, Austin Pendleton, Peter Reigert, Rosie O'Donnell, Tony Shalhoub, Pete Seeger, Ron Silver, Jean Stapleton, Meryl Streep, and Dan Zanes, plus political figures like Bill Bradley, Senator Hillary Clinton, John Edwards, John McCain, Ralph Nader, Shimon Peres and Reverend Al Sharpton. Ms. Falco was part of the leadership team behind the opening of Lerner Hall, Columbia University's $98 million student center. While working at the John Harms Center for the Arts, the company was named "Regional Center of Excellence" by the New Jersey Council on the Arts, and CSC Repertory received an Obie Award for Outstanding Achievement while she was Acting Managing Director.

Development Director

Sherrie Thaler has been the Development Director for 13 of 15 years at Newark School of the Arts. Prior to working at NSA, she was the Grants Manager at the New York Foundation for the Arts, 1985 to 1993 and from 1980 to 1985 worked in the Development Department at the South Street Seaport Museum assisting in raising funds for its annual operations and a major capital campaign.
