Greetings!
I'm glad to see our students settling in for the spring semester. March is a busy month for us at the Newark School of the Arts. We will enjoy Women's' History Month at the School with our annual "Strong Women" Art exhibit, opening on March 22. We will celebrate women through song at a special Women's History Music Hour featuring guest artist Victoria Griswold on March 24. Our student music hours will be on March 10 and 31.
See you at the School!

Thank You
The City of Newark's Community Block Development Grant Hearst Foundation |
|
The Newark School of the Arts was awarded a grant for our ICAN Program (Initiative for Children's Arts in Newark) for $18,928. This grant, along with funds from the Aviation Development Corporation and the Rivendell Foundation have allowed us to offer a 60% discount for first time students to the School who are Newark Residents. In addition, we were awarded a grant for $53,730 for new windows and waterproofing last year - we hope that work will commence by April. This year we were awarded $125,000 to be used towards the replacement of our 1940's elevator. We hope that the conversion will be accomplished during our fall term.
Lastly we wanted to share with you the receipt of a $100,000 grant from the Hearst Foundation. This long time funder supports our work every 3-4 years. Their contribution goes directly to fund the generous scholarship and financial aid that Newark School of the Arts offers its students.
